“I believe therapy is a collaborative process rooted in trust and mutual respect. Whether you’re navigating deep emotion, a period of transition, or trying to reconnect with yourself, I’d be honored to share the counseling space with you.”

Kara Adolphson works with adolescents and adults navigating major life transitions, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, identity exploration, and the everyday challenges of being human. Kara’s approach is relational and grounded in warmth, curiosity, and respect. Kara is committed to creating a space where clients feel safe to show up as they are. In her work, Kara Adolphson draws from trauma-informed and somatic practices including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (in ongoing training), Polyvagal Theory, DBT skills, and narrative therapy. Kara is engaged in ongoing training for attachment-focused EMDR and EFT (Emotionally-Focused Therapy) for couples.

Kara Adolphson is a Provisional Clinical Professional Counselor (PCLC) with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University-New England and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Montana. She also holds a certificate in trauma-informed counseling and has over 10 years of experience in advocacy work, which continues to shape how she shows up for others with care and integrity. Kara is LGBTQIA+ allied.

Outside of the therapy room, Kara finds grounding through yoga, long walks, swimming in the river, and traveling. These practices help her stay connected to joy and movement.

“At different points in life, we all face experiences that leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about how to move forward. I believe healing begins through connection, and that therapy can be a space to feel seen, heard, and supported in making sense of your story.”
